There’s plenty happening in the VFF workforce and social policy space at the moment.
Please read the latest from the VFF team:
Closing loopholes legislation
The first half of the Closing Loopholes Bill was passed through parliament in late 2023. The most radical parts of the bill – including the changes to casual employment and the unannounced right of entry for union officials onto farms – is contained in the second half of the bill that will be passed sometime this year. The NFF is leading lobbying efforts of cross-bench senators and the VFF has committed to doing the same.
WorkCover
VFF prepared a submission to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Victorian Government’s proposed changes to the WorkCover scheme in January. The Inquiry’s report was tabled in February and disappointingly appears to recommend a softening of the proposed legislation on the back of pressure from unions.
