Better Safety Standards for Quad Bikes
The VFF believes it is vital that OPDs are fitted on all quad bikes, quad bikes are engineered to a minimum safety standard, and that quad bike users are well trained.
As part of our work on quad bike safety, the VFF administered the Victorian Government’s $6 million rebate scheme from 2016 to 2020. This scheme provided rebates for farmers to install roll over protection devices to existing quad bikes or they could use a rebate to buy a side by side vehicle.
We are strongly advocating to government for the continuation of the scheme to ensure all quad bikes in Victoria are fitted with lifesaving safety devices.
The VFF is also working with government and quad bike manufacturers to ensure Victorian farmers have access to safe quad bikes following new Australian safety standards for manufacturers.
