Who We Are
The VFF Pig Group represents the majority of the state’s pig farmers in both their commercial and socials interests to raise the standing and awareness of Victorian pig producers.
We provide a means for Victorian pig farmers’ interests and views to be represented on a number of state issues such as planning reforms, Codes and Guidelines, animal welfare and Biosecurity.
Victoria’s Pork Industry
As a major pork producing state, the pig industry contributes greatly to the Victorian economy more so than any other Australian state. The Victorian pig industry generates considerable economic activity, supporting FTE jobs in the state and making pig production a valuable industry to regional communities.
The pork industry has undergone profound structural change over the last 30 years, with Australian producers decreasing overall in numbers. However, during this period the average herd size has increased from 18.3 to an estimated 200 due to improved animal care and husbandry practices.

We are an active group with Pig Committee members who sit on various state and national committees in the industry, along with meeting with state government representatives. We advocate for our members on a range of issues to ensure sustainable pig farming practices for your business.
