This long weekend, Victorians will have their first opportunity in months to take a trip to regional Victoria and enjoy all the spoils that our amazing land and agriculture industry has to offer.
Victorian Farmers Federation Vice President Emma Germano encouraged R&R seekers to head off with an empty esky.
“Depending on the area you visit, this weekend could almost be a bit of a progressive produce-gathering adventure!” Ms Germano said.
“Great for the kids and the chefs in the family, all while supporting Victorian farmers, many of whom have been hit by reductions in exports.
“Victoria is the food capital of Australia. Regional Victoria is blessed with some of the best produce in the world and our farmers are ready to welcome you. We have the entire state covered with a farm gate experience from Mildura to Bairnsdale, Warrnambool to Orbost.”
Ms Germano said there is something for everyone and every taste.
“Whether you’re craving olive oil from Mildura, ice cream from Timboon, some of the best handcrafted butter in the world from Lakes Entrance or meat from Moriac, VFF farmers are ready and eager to fill your esky,” Ms Germano said.
“It’s a great opportunity for Melburnians, especially children, to chat with farmers about their produce and learn about the passion and effort we put into creating your food every day. This kind of experience is more important now than ever with remote learning limiting opportunities for hands-on and real-life experiences over recent months.
“Whether you want to drive, or walk between locations or bike ride, there’s different ways of getting to each of the locations.”
So take a break Melbourne! Head to the country, drop in to our farms and fill your esky with the best food in the world.
