Farmers’ Fund closing May 31

Media Releases » Farmers’ Fund closing May 31

The sixth round of Farmers’ Fund applications will close May 31, and will deliver grants of up to $10,000 to dairy farmers.

The Fund is open to all dairy farmers located in the southern milk pool, however priority will be given to fire affected dairy farmers from south west Victoria. The Farmers’ Fund is still taking applications up until May 31 and farmers are encouraged to apply at http://bit.ly/FFround6

The March 2018 fires in south west Victoria burnt thousands of hectares, killed over 2,000 livestock, and damaged hundreds of farm businesses. The extent of the devastation triggered the Victorian government to declare the fires a ‘state emergency’.

Victorian Farmers Federation President David Jochinke said “Farmers’ Fund is expected to deliver up to $500,000 in grants in round six. These grants will contribute to the continuing recovery of south west dairy farms.”

The completion of the sixth round will bring the total amount of funds distributed as a result of the sale of Farmers’ Fund milk in Coles supermarkets across Victoria to approximately $2 million dollars to date.

Unsuccessful round 5 applications will automatically be submitted to round 6, however applications from prior closed rounds (2, 3 and 4) will no longer be considered, and applicants would need to reapply against current guidelines.
