The Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) is encouraging drought-impacted farmers and agricultural employers to connect with employment opportunities through the Farm Employment Exchange Pilot Project website before it closes on June 30 2020.

The project is a Victorian Government grant initiative being administered by the VFF that aims at assisting drought-affected farmers through the creation of an employment exchange interface.

It is focussed on areas that have previously or still are experiencing extremely dry and drought conditions such as the Wellington and East Gippsland Shires, the Millewa region and the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District.

VFF President David Jochinke said farmers in these regions have been doing it tough, despite welcome rainfall in many areas earlier this year and this program is helping both employers and job seekers to find work.

“Whilst we’ve had a positive start to the year rainfall wise for many parts of Victoria, some regions are still experiencing the lingering impacts of the drought and the associated issue of workers finding jobs and employers filling vacant roles.”

“The Farm Employment Exchange Project is another option for both job seekers and employers looking for additional work in the agricultural sector,” Mr Jochinke said.

Job seekers and employers can register their interest, create a profile and browse employment opportunities on offer now on the Farm Employment Exchange website by clicking this link https://farmemploymentexchange.org.au/

“It is important that as farmers we support each other whatever the challenge is, be it drought, Coronavirus or bushfires and I have no doubt Victorian farmers will rise to the challenge,” Mr Jochinke said.
