Industry representatives play a critical role during an emergency animal disease (EAD) response by providing industry perspective, essential advice and guidance to government on response matters. Existing response arrangements acknowledge this role and the benefits it provides to response planning and reducing the overall impacts of the EAD on business continuity. The LLI function within the EAD response structure allows industry to be formally incorporated and invited to contribute to the response.
This October, Agriculture Victoria (AgVIC) will be hosting Exercise Audiatur: a scenario-based discussion exercise held in Attwood, Victoria on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 October. This exercise will be run in collaboration with Animal Health Australia (AHA) and representatives of Victorian livestock industries, and aims to ensure that industry and Victorian government are prepared to respond to an EAD outbreak that has the potential to severely impact the Victorian livestock industry.
The Exercise Audiatur is a training opportunity for industry professionals to gather and test the skills needed to contribute during EAD responses. During the exercise you will:
· Gain practical insights into working effectively within a response framework and learn the nuances of communication in EAD scenarios.
· Participate in interactive, scenario-based training designed to deepen your understanding and equip you with actionable skills.
· Learn how LLI representatives can collaboratively support and advocate on behalf of their industries during an EAD response.
· Support the development of mechanisms for collaboration and communication in a response between government and industry.
· Challenge and enhance your skills and understanding as an LLI representative in performing the LLI function.
· Seize the opportunity to forge strong relationships across the sector, creating a unified front against the looming threats of EAD on our industry.
This is not general awareness training and is targeted to those who can step up and take a leadership role during a response and work with government within a state coordination centre.
