Back Victorian Farmers

A five-point plan to grow production, cut costs and back our regions.

Takes 20 seconds Back the plan every party should support
By the numbers

Victorian agriculture is a sector the state can't afford to ignore.

$22.1B

in Victorian food and fibre exports in 2024–25, the largest of any state.

60%

of everything Victoria sells overseas is food and fibre.

153,840

jobs in Victorian farming and food manufacturing.

Why this matters

A sector Victoria cannot afford to ignore.

A flock of sheep in a Victorian paddock

Victoria is the nation's largest producer of dairy, sheep meat and horticulture.

Victorian farmers work just 3 per cent of Australia's agricultural land, yet produce almost a quarter of the nation's farm output by value.

Victoria is the country's largest exporter of food and fibre, and the sector supports more than 150,000 jobs. Exports have grown for four years running.

Government policy hasn't kept pace. Farm businesses are carrying new taxes, compliance written without reference to the farm gate, and freight routes that no longer work.

Agriculture has enormous capacity to grow. It just needs the right settings and support to get there.

Five priorities · Fifteen commitments

What we're asking every party and candidate to back.

Built through consultation with our grassroots networks across Victoria, here's the plan in brief.

What we're calling for

Take the pledge to back Victorian farmers

To every party and candidate contesting the 2026 Victorian election

Victorian farmers are calling on you to commit to:

  1. Ditch unfair new taxes on farmland, including the Emergency Services and Volunteer Fund.
  2. Commit an extra $2 billion to regional roads, and fix the freight network.
  3. Protect farmland in law and deliver Western Victoria's water security strategy.
  4. Strengthen biosecurity and establish Right to Farm laws.
  5. Back regional training, services and safety for the next generation.

Give farmers the right settings, and we'll deliver a stronger Victoria for generations to come.
